This website follows my general privacy philosophy:
- No information that identifies a specific device, person, or network address is ever collected by website content
without your permission,
but the website's hosting service may log the network address requesting a page.
- All information I collect automatically is used solely for the purpose of improving the product. It is not used
to send you ads or sales pitches. In fact, this website does not display third party ads. The closest it has to ads are
pages documenting my current and upcoming applications.
- Attempts are made to upload information about website content errors without your permission only if the content
is uncertain whether it is functional enough to ask your permission.
- This page provides transparency about the data collection behavior when you are using my website.
- The link to this website's privacy policy is prominently featured on the home page and on the pages embedded
in my applications. The link to the privacy policy is present at the bottom of every page. Thus, you can read about the privacy policy before you
explore other pages.
This website collects the following information without offering you the chance to opt out:
- Routine website usage logs as collected by its website hosting service.
- If our server side code generating the look-and-feel of our website has a serious error,
this website tries to log an incident report with the time, page, and type of web browser. (FYI: the website
sends a different look and feel to browsers it believes are running on smart phones.)
- If the scripting code in any page has a serious error while running under your browser,
the page will attempt to log an incident report with the time, page, and type of web browser.
I use the incident reports to give me a heads-up that this website is behaving badly
and to provide clues to the root cause of the bug.
This website uses the following cookies. All are created only when you give the website permission to do so.
You can use the Preferences pages of this website to get rid of the cookies at any time.
- If you tell this website to remember your color preference, it uses a long-lived cookie to make your browser remember the preference.
- If you tell this website to remember your font preference, it uses a long-lived cookie to make your browser remember the preference.
This website content does not attempt to remember any of those cookies. The routine website
hosting
logs could potentially record when the cookies are used but do not normally do so. The cookies will be
visible to anyone snooping on your network.
This website adds information to certain URIs to carry information from page to page to avoid repeatedly
asking you the same questions. This information is visible in the routine website hosting logs and to
anyone snooping on your network.
If you tell this website to use your color preference throughout a visit, it adds a colorway=
item to the URIs of all pages reached by clicking links or submitting forms.
If you try out a color preference, this website adds a colorwayTrial= item to URI.
If you tell this website to use your font preference throughout a visit, it adds a font=
item to the URIs of all pages reached by clicking links or submitting forms.
If you try out a font preference, this website adds a fontTrial= item to URI.
Some pages that are reachable from many places are requested by links that embed Menu=,
MenuItem=, and/or Product= context so that the menus of the page can be tailored to
let you easily navigate to pages related what you are currently looking at.
Pages add a BrowserWidth= item to URIs to help pages render more quickly, with less
flicker, in a way tailored to the size of your browser window.
